MANCHESTER UNITED EYEING UP SUMMER MOVE FOR HIGHLY-RATED DEFENDER

Premier League giants Manchester United are interested in signing Stoke City defender Nathan Collins, according to reports from journalist Alan Nixon. The 18-year old has been an impressive figure in the Potters’ academy this season, and was rewarded with a few first-team appearances towards the latter stages of the season under Nathan Jones. The Irishman played three times for Stoke in the final stages of the campaign, with the central defender making his first league start for the Staffordshire club in a 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough last month. Now,  Nixon claims  that Manchester United are keen on signing the talented defender, with former Red Devils star Darren Fletcher recommending him to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Fletcher is likely to know Collins well having been at the bet365 Stadium for the past two seasons, with the Republic of Ireland under-18 international catching the eye in the youth ranks. Arsenal consider late £40m part-exchange offer for Zaha

Arsenal could offer £40million plus one of three players in an attempt to meet Crystal Palace’s £80m valuation of  Wilfried Zaha . Zaha has attracted the interest of England’s leading clubs after  reportedly informing Palace  of his desire to leave in pursuit of major honours this summer. But the south London club are reluctant to lose their best player, and thus have  valued him at around £100m  to deter potential suitors. The Sun on Sunday claim that Palace would consider selling the winger at closer to £80m, which is twice Arsenal’s reported transfer budget if they miss out on Champions League qualification. Their plans therefore rest on the Europa League final against Chelsea later this month, but The Sun say Arsenal could wait until the closing weeks of the window to see if Palace’s valuation drops.
